So I just read that one study says that people who text while driving are 23 times more likely to get into a crash than those who don’t…but will making it illegal do any good? It’s now illegal in our area to drive while texting. I must admit, I’ve done this a few times, though I usually fear for my own safety and those around me while I do it. I do wish I were as efficient at texting as some of my younger friends, who seem to be able to do it without thinking, whithout missing a beat…and without stopping a conversation. But since I’m not…I won’t…
The same study done in Californina showed that slightly MORE people texted behind the wheel after the anti-texting law was put into place.
But maybe I wasn’t texting, officer, what if I was updating my blog? I was updating my facebook status, I was looking up a number, I was dialing that number, I was looking at my GPS on my phone, ………………………………
do you think making it illegal will help or would you say “nobody is going to listen,” as Karen Cordova (17) of California says?
Is it even fair to make it illegal…what if you were just looking up a number to call, but it sure looked like you were texting…who’s to say?
